Bio:
I'm a professional artist with a resume of exhibits and gallery affiliations dating back to the mid-1980s, when I received my MFA in painting from Arizona State University. I am widely recognized for my innovations in techniques using cold wax medium and oils, which I teach in workshops in the US and internationally. I co-authored the book, Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts & Conversations, widely recognized as the most authoritative book on the subject.
My abstract imagery arises from time spent in the kind of wild, remote landscapes I love, in places such as New Mexico, Ireland, Spain, and Sweden, where I have lived and have been awarded artist's residencies and fellowships. The visual inspiration of these places mixes with my inner responses and memories. My process involves building up many layers of paint that evolve into complex colors and textures.
I'm affiliated with galleries in numerous locations, including Atlanta, GA; Santa Fe, NM; Telluride, CO; Lafayette, California, and Dublin, Ireland. My work is found in hundreds of private, corporate, and public commissions and collections.
I have recently established a home and studio in Dixon, New Mexico where I am surrounded by a spectacular landscape of canyons, mesas, and arroyos.
