Arrowhead Journal
MSP Terminal 1, Gallery C6
March 27, 2024 - April 1, 2025
At the core of these artworks are the forms, textures, and shapes found in Cameron Zebrun’s exploration of the Arrowhead region of Minnesota as well as the Canadian Rockies and the Pacific Northwest coast. Zebrun’s impressions of these fascinating landscapes are embodied in unconventional formats that seem just as tacit as the natural subjects they depict.
Zebrun takes his cues from the forests, rivers, coastal terrain, alpine meadows, and hidden lakes of Lake Superior’s North Shore and the Cascade and Rocky Mountain Ranges. His three-dimensional work, like impressionist landscape paintings translated into abstract sculpture, seem more concerned with craftsmanship than with convention or category. His digital collages of original and found photographs suggest a narrative, but none is there.
Arrowhead Journal is a chronicle of Zebrun’s immersion and path of discovery into the natural beauty of these extraordinary places.
