This image was built up with a monoprint forming the basis of the scene, and charcoal used to bring out more detail of areas which were emerging from the print, giving a sense of trees and hills and a little bridge over a stream at the bottom. The charcoal used on this piece was created by the artist, in a woodland setting where there was permission to cut branches and make charcoal in an open fire.
