Posters or Prints
All of my art and illustrations in this POSTER collection were created digitally.
My background is in graphic design and fine arts. When I first started in the business this was long before the advent of the Apple computer (1) that placed the ability of graphics and how to create flyers on computers in the hands of all of us.
Before that time emerged, I was trained as a compugraphic typographer (2), illustrator, and graphic designer. It is hard to capture my 50 years of being an artist to my collectors, but I will try briefly here. I studied how fonts can express emotion, --the shape of the A, the space between an A and W, or whether I write IN ALL CAPS, or lower case, in all lower case. How color creates a mood or feeling. You know what this feel likes, and that there are many colors on that sample board in the paint store. All of these colors are derived from primary and secondary colors. Black and white help determine power, softness, and drama. I learned the rules of placing objects on diagonals so the eye will move from left to right. I learned how to place a swirling object on a one-dimension page to make the viewer feel movement. I learned the power of bringing the viewer into my work through size, shape, and memory. I use bold colors as a way of acknowledging the silence of Black, LGBTQIA, and Indigenous voices, who often are not heard, respected or seen in all of our glorious ways. I am both an artist and a psychologist.
These bold colors signify that you and I are here, and we celebrate life in all of its vibrancy. If I sign my posters, I add $10 onto my work. My signature, I assume, will hold some merit long after I am gone, but probably during my lifetime if the universe allows. Thanks for listening to me, and hope this moves you to place my art in your home, or office. Sincerely, Brian References (1) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Apple_Inc.
